Before you borrow
- Borrow only what you need and can repay. Work out the instalment against your monthly budget.
- Compare the APR (TAEG), not just the interest rate (TAN): the APR includes most costs.
- Read the SECCI (standard European consumer credit information) the lender must give you before you sign.
- You have 14 days to withdraw from a consumer credit agreement after signing it.
- If you have several debts, a consolidation loan can lower the monthly instalment but often costs more in total.
